PEI Peru joins ZOFRATACNA on its 36th anniversary

On behalf of PEI Peru, Pamella Bocanegra, Policy Coordinator, attended the ceremony marking the ZOFRATACNA anniversary, which this year celebrates 36 years since the start of its operations. ZOFRATACNA anniversary: recognising its people
The ceremony included recognition of ZOFRATACNA business owners and workers. In this way, it highlighted their track record and their contribution to the development of this platform in Tacna.
These awards acknowledge the people and companies that, year after year, drive the economic activity of the free trade zone in southern Peru.
ZOFRATACNA on the path to becoming an Eco-Industrial Park
PEI Peru’s participation in this event carries special meaning. ZOFRATACNA is moving towards an Eco-Industrial Park model with technical support from UNIDO, through PEI Peru and as part of Phase II of the Global Eco-Industrial Parks Programme (GEIPP).
This path seeks to reconcile economic development with environmental sustainability, with a focus on resource efficiency and cleaner production. In addition, a group of six pioneering companies is leading this transition within the free trade zone. Taking part in the ZOFRATACNA anniversary is therefore also a way for PEI Peru to reaffirm its commitment to this process.
